I went to Portland and Seattle over the weekend; I was gone for 48
hours, and I calculate that at least 14 hours of that was en route,
either from San Jose to Portland and back by airplane, or driving
between Portland and Seattle. It was a very silly trip by the
amount of effort per hour of fun meter, but it helped enormously
with shaking out the cobwebs and the irritability that was building
alarmingly in my brain.
I have been terribly restless lately, feeling I did the wrong thing
taking this job at all, feeling that I wanted to give up everything
and get myself to another country, which has been a goal for several
years but which I put on hold yet again to take this job. But since
I returned that has eased, and I've started to care about work
again. It was a good trip.
